MORE ABOUT ME
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW?
Like anyone with chronic illness, while much of my life is focused on managing disease activity, I am so much more than any one label. But since I live with autoimmunity, I make myself and my health a priority: this where my passion for getting real comes from.
THE GAL BEHIND THE BLOG
I’m a forty-something native Texan turned New Yorker, living in the Mid West. I am also an English teacher, and now a technophobe blogger (which I still cannot believe).
I am a late bloomer. After floundering around in college for what seemed like forever (probably longer if you ask my dad) eventually obtaining a culinary degree, an English degree, and an MS in education, I finally felt like a grown-up. Well, for the most part. I started my career late, found and married the love of my life late, and had our beautiful daughter at, “an advanced maternal age” (their words, not mine).
I also found my true calling late: helping others live their best lives in spite of it all. I have always been interested in healthy living and motivating others, but after my rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, it became a passion.
I am married to my best friend and we have an amazing daughter and a Siberian cat named Tatum (aka Tatey, Tater Tot, Tater, Floofer, and Fluffy Butt). I adore our little family.
